The Utah Industry and Innovation Center, part of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, congratulates Ripple, LLC on receiving the prestigious Tibbetts Award. This honor is bestowed by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to companies and entrepreneurs involved in bringing transformational technologies through the federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

“We are humbled by this award,” said Dr. Daniel McDonnall, Ripple co-founder and chief scientific officer. “The funding we’ve received through the SBIR/STTR programs has driven our success and allowed us to focus on our mission to create neurotechnology to improve the lives of underserved patients.”

Ripple, LLC has worked on game-changing neurotechnology since its founding in 2005, focusing on developing neuroprosthetics and neuroscience research products. Ripple’s innovative technology will create new therapies for treating neurological conditions and new tools to explore the neurological system’s functions. The company’s cutting-edge innovations include implantable medical devices used to improve the control of prosthetic limbs, treat phantom limb pain, and create a brain-machine interface.

Ripple has been awarded over $35 million SBIR/STTR grants and contracts through the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and DARPA. Privately held, Ripple manufactures and sells research tools to academic laboratories around the world. Ripple’s medical devices are used in first-in-human clinical trials, and this technology will soon be submitted for regulatory approval to become new clinical tools.

“Ripple is well-deserving of this award,” said Mary Cardon, director of the Industry and Innovation Center. “The work that Ripple is doing will put Utah on the map and improve the lives of people worldwide.”
